(This review is identical to the one I gave for the Musical Fidelity MX-Vinyl because I consider the MX and the sBooster as one piece of gear.) For a number of years I used a tube Antique Sound USA phono preamp and was very happy with it. But when I bought the VPI Super Prime Scout from Upscale with Soundsmith Zephyr cartridge I realized I had a Maserati with cheap street tires on my hands. No way I was going to tap the real potential. After some research I narrowed it down to a handful of phonostages that I could afford....and a few I couldn’t afford. One of the unaffordables was the Musical Fidelity M6 at $1800. The step down was the MX-Vinyl at $750 but the power supply was a wall wart. After watching Kevin’s video regarding the sBooster power upgrade it seemed to me the most significant difference between these two phono-stages was the M6’s great built in power supply. So maybe the MX-Vinyl with the sBooster was the way to go with $800 less in cost. So I wen that route. Having this setup in my system has been revelatory! I have a Black Ice Fusion 3502s amp with cryo treated KT 150 power tubes from Upscale and all this 3D talk about sound suddenly has meaning to me! The music seems to ‘gush’ from the speakers with a liquidity I’ve never heard before. I cannot give you an opinion on the difference between the wall wart and the sBooster because I purchased them together, tossed the wall wart and I aint looking back. I took Kevin;s word for it. The combo of the MX-Vinyl and the sBooster is so much bang for the buck it’s crazy. Best results for $1,000 I have ever spent on stereo gear and I’m a 68 year old life long stereo fan! I may end up being an audiophile yet!

Gives my Mytek Brooklyn DAC+ more punch. Worth adding to a headphone amp/dac system.

The MKII provides greater clarity and presence than the AC power supply to my Brooklyn Bridge.

I'm using this with the Ultra upgrade powering a SOtM sMS-200 Ultra Neo. The SOtM is an impressive Roon endpoint feeding into a Schiit Yggdrasil. I haven't compared this against any other power supplies though. I purchased an sBooster for a Sonore microRendu after using an iFi power supply and that yielded excellent sonic improvements, so when it was time for an upgrade, I didn't consider anything else. The SOtM works flawlessly with this and the Ultra upgrade. I'm happy with this purchase.

I'm using the Sbooster to power a Brooklyn DAC+, primarily so that I won't have to worry about power line pollution from noisy digital audio sources (noise, if correlated with the audio signal, is distortion). It makes an already good sounding DAC just a little better, and that is all that one can reasonably expect.
