“Great Product. Great service. To be honest I was nervous about ordering the Pro-ject HL Signature from an online company on the west coast: I've never purchased any audio equipment that expensive online, never mind a complex analog rig. But Upscale Audio made it really easy: They did all the measurements & settings before carefully packing the parts into the crate prior to shipping it out here to NYC and including really simple instructions. I was able to leisurely set it up and play records within about 45 minutes. My sales guy also was ready to help out if I needed it (and he provided me with the dispswitch settings I should use on my pre-amp for the wonderful Sumiko cartridge). Rather than being a spiralling nightmare (as I had without reason feared), I ended up thinking, "Man I shoulda done this a long time ago". Oh yeah, the sound? Absolutely fantastic and an immediately obvious upgrade from my MoFi table. Of course there's tons more detail but more importantly there's that buttery balanced midrange which I was really hoping to get more of in my system. Now I'm now hearing not just "the music", but physical musicians in a room playing that music. Good example? THRUM, by Joe Henry. I now hear a great BAND playing those fantastic tunes. Bruce Cockburn's acoustic guitar on Charity of Night now sounds physically huge. And Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan's voice and band on The Last Prophet? Now it's even more obvious Nusrat was the Pavarotti of Qawwali. Pow. Five stars.”
