“I am very happy with the Technics SL-1300, which replaced a Rega Planar 8. The 1300 is more versatile than the P8 in terms of cartridge swapping and I am glad to return to the rock-steadiness of a direct drive TT. Also, I never did like the Rega’s cheap feeling NEO PSU. I always felt like it that was the weak link and was likely to break down over time, which happened to my P8- the 45 rpm speed control would stop working at random times. Rather than replacing the NEO PSU, I decided to move to the Technics, and I am very glad I did. I have the Technics paired with a Sumiko Starling, which is an amazing combination. I prefer this pairing over the Rega P8 with their Aphetta 3 cartridge. I hate the vagueness of the term, but Technics/Sumiko combination is effortlessly musical. The team at Upscale did a great job expertly setting up the TT. 15 minutes after unboxing, I was spinning my first record. Another great transaction with Upscale Audio!”
