Critical in the design of a cone (non-panel) spseaker is to avoid a cross-over circuit in the mid-range (i.e. listening range) between 100 Hz to 1500 Hz. Unfortunately most 3 driver systems place a cross over somewhere between the mid-range and the base speaker so that much of your lower mid-range listening is playing through the cross-over circuit. The Tannoy has astonishing mid-range because it is essentially a single base-midrange driver up to 1 kHz where the tweeter cross-over is deployed. Instruments sound more right than I have ever heard. Very dynamic. Very smooth. This is 5th high-end speaker. I am in love.

The Kensignton drivers on the DC10a are tight initially, but with after they loosen up they have both the precision and full range with depth and ease at all volume levels - assume this is due to the alnico motors. Mesmerizing.
