If you remember the old Maxell tape poster with a man being blown back in his chair by the sound from his speakers. The Eatons can put you in the chair. In a 10.5 x 11.5 ft. room, with a 15 watt Cary CAD 300SEI integrated amp [300b & 6sn7 tubes], the Eatons can have you glued to your chair or up & dancing. They convey the emotion of the music extremely well. Strong lows you can feel in your gut.The mids bloom naturally into the lows & highs. Some of the best midrange i've ever heard. The highs are airy, sweet & clean. The soundstage is spectacular. I feel I could walk on stage. They sound great with all types of music. From someone playing pan flute in the Andes to Brother & the Holding Company boogying down or Toscanini conducting the NBC Symphony Orchestra. You name it, as long as its well recorded it will sound great. Cabinets are beautiful, build quality top notch. There are lots of excellent speakers out there but the Eatons seem to have more meat on the bone a more real sound to my ears. I whole heartedly recommend the Tannoy Eatons.

Waited several months before reviewing to give them some time to break in. I have the Eatons in my relatively small (10x14 ft) music room. I have them hooked up to a PrimaLuna EVO 100, as recommended by Kevin, along with a turntable and media streamer. As expected was a bit harsh but tameable with the frequency adjustments. I’ve now set them back to factory and they sound magnificent for a smaller speaker. My collection of Bluenote jazz reissues just shine. Plenty of bass but it’s the ability to clearly reproduce the sound of a saxophone or the sparkle of a ride cymbal that makes for such a lovely listening experience. Perfect with vinyl I still rate them a 5 when streaming. I have quobuz and have nothing but praise for how well these speakers carry hi res music. And I love the old school look and vibe of these speakers.

So far I love the speakers. Just as reviews said, highs where harsh at first. After 200 hours calmed down. Mids and bass are sweet. I love the old style look. I would have loved buying them in the 70’s. But child labor laws would not have allowed that.

All I can say is, WOW! These speakers are amazing. They sound completely natural, and the sound completely immerses me in my room like I’ve never experienced before. It’s hard to describe the sensation, but the soundstage is huge and the dispersion is wide, so you get great sound even outside of the sweet spot. I love them!
