“After selling off excess components (more than two systems worth) I ended up with one stereo system powered by a PrimaLuna Evo 300 integrated amp. My tube collection included a pair of Tung-Sol 6189s (KS, cryoed) that sounded good so I purchased another pair and am using the quad as drivers and various NOS 12AU7 tubes (currently GE 6189Ws) as gain tubes. The Tung-Sols really do reduce midrange glare(very important with Klipsch Fortes 4s) and are quiet and detailed but not clinical. Tung-Sol EL34 B tubes are still my favorite power tube.”

“On a whim, I gave these tubes a try in my Primaluna Dialogue Premium Integrated. I maxed them out with "Kevin's stash" and cryo to see if it made a difference. I popped them in the "gain" slots and moved the existing Gold Lions to the adjacent "driver" slots. While far from utilizing the scientific method (isolating one variable at a time), the net effect was dramatic. The overall sound quality was warmer and more detailed, with more defined lows, more airy highs and a noticeable soundstage expansion. Without getting into the stereophile mumbo jumbo, the music was simply more pleasant to listen to. Like covering up with a cashmere blanket vs. a polyester fleece. Well, the Primaluna never sounded that bad, but the total combination made a significant a significant difference in overall sound quality, without a doubt. Sometimes you don't know why! Just be happy and enjoy the music.”

“I’m always pleased with tubes from UpscaleAudio, the Tung-Sol 12AU7W included. They are installed in the active line stage of my VAC CPA-1A preamp. The V4 position demands a quiet 12AU7, and the Tung-Sol /Kevin’s Stash / Cryo is thus far, dead quiet. and superb from top to bottom. Kudos to Kevin and staff!”
