A bigger enclosure than modern day mini monitors but the benefit is a much bigger sound. It creates a very nice soundstage. The bass is very present, giving music the authority that mini monitors just cannot deliver. A very enjoyable, non fatiging speaker at a price that is within the reach of more music lovers. Recommended.

Originally just purchased the stands. They were so nice decided to buy the matching speakers. Wow what a wonderful warm sound. Very detailed and offer a lot a bass for a bookshelf speaker. Saving up for a tube amp. Thank you Kevin!

You’re not going to believe how good these speakers sound at ANY price. I would describe them as warm with good tight bass. The speaker stands are a must also. Upscale is right I’m listening once again to my music collection. Don’t fall into the trap that you can’t get great audio speakers at this price because you can.

First look out of the box my initial impression was that the build quality and actual size of these speakers was great. I ordered the Red Mahogany and they look great. I've paired these with my Prima Luna Integrate amp and upon first hearing them play I was completely taken back by the booming base. Uncontrollable base. I had also purchased the included speaker stands and had them on top of the stands as required. I figured that the speakers need to "loosen" up some before the base would become less 'boomy." Well, 100 hours, 150 hours not much improvement. I did not use the supplied rubber "feet" but I did, however, place 2 inches of "foam" between the stands & speakers to isolate without much improvement. I wrote to Wharfedale in England and received an email back speaking of "speaker placement." This is not the first set of speakers I've had installed with this amp and had never had any problem with "placement." Additionally, moving the Wharfedales around made no difference, still uncontrollable bass -boom! At this point I was ready to send these back to Upscale Audio but the expense of shipping from the East Coast to California was prohibitive. So I put more hours on them and purchased a "break-in" CD. Long story short, after about 250-300 hours the bass became more relaxed and less boomy. Imaging with the Prima Luna is quite good, deep sound stage with speakers about 5 feet in front of the back wall. Are these the best speakers I've ever heard or owned? No. I do still have 2 inches of foam under the speakers on the stands which does still help with bass/boom. For the asking price of $1198.00 ($1498.00 w/ Stands) these speakers are a good deal. Are there better sounding speakers at this price point? Maybe, but I doubt they look as good as these if an old style cabinet speaker is your cup of tea. Recommended but be patient with break-in.
