“I purchased the open air intake air for my 2017 GTI as a simple bolt on upgrade for better air flow feeding the turbo, which for the most part assembles quite easily. The only issue I had is that there is no longer a hole punched into the heat shield even though I have a secondary air intake (SAI). I emailed their support and they said they no longer provide a hear shield with a hole so I was told to “just try and get the SAI into the box, cut a hole if you have to”. Well this was not possible so I tried to tuck the SAI filter into the intake box. I trust this we be adequate to maintain any performance gains.”

Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. We want to clarify that while we sell this intake, we do not manufacture it. The heat shield design was refreshed by CTS to remove the SAI hole, as some models do not require secondary air injection (SAI). We have seen customers who choose to modify the heat shield if they prefer a dedicated spot for the SAI filter, but most opt to tuck or neatly route the filter outside the shield for a clean engine bay appearance, as you have done. “Instalation was super easy, about a 1/10, noticed the slightest bit in torque gain, and it sounds insane, made the flutter about 2-3 times louder, could hear the turbo spooling, must get..”

“This thing was way more better than I possibly expected! Sounds so amazing, you can hear the turbos on my car a lot louder and nicer, after letting go of the gas I get that nice psssssss noise‍ And the performance on my car has surprisingly improved noticeably with the new intake! LOVE IT! Also it looks great and was easy to install”
