“This kit is wonderful as a supplement to Dieselgeek's Ultimate Shift Bushing kit. Between the two, you will replace every bushing in your shifter. For me, this removed all of the slop on my 160k mile 02J transmission, tightened clutch feel, and removed a grind when going into reverse. This kit rebuilds everything on "top" of the shifter, save the "up-down" bushing above the ball (incl in the Dieselgeek kit). Everything can be done from inside the car, with the center console removed. To install the cable end bushings in the Dieselgeek kit, you need to drill two 7/8ths holes in a figure 8 pattern or one 1-1/4 hole on the passenger side of the shift box (doesn't damage anything). 90 degree pliers are helpful. When reinstalling the new "ball-bushing", you may not want to tighten the securing plate screws all the way. When all of the bushings are refreshed, it may make the shifter stick and not return to home if the top plate is too tight.”

“Not sure why the factory part that broke did not look like any of the pieces I've received in this kit. I had to order another factory piece because this kit is either not complete or not for a GTI 337 edition.”
