Why do the instructions suggest washing hands after use?We suggest washing your hands after applying the Vitamin C serum, yet leave it on the face. It does seem a bit counterintuitive at first. The key reason is to do with how Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) behaves when exposed to air and oils. It’s a brilliant antioxidant, but it's also quite reactive — when it sits on the skin’s surface (especially if not fully absorbed), it can oxidise. On the hands, where the skin is tougher and there may be a little more natural oil or leftover product, this oxidation process can sometimes lead to a temporary orange or brownish tint, particularly around the nails or fingertips. It’s completely harmless, but not very desirable. On the face, the serum is absorbed much more efficiently. The facial skin is finer and more porous, so the Vitamin C penetrates more deeply to deliver its benefits — helping to brighten, protect, and even skin tone. Because it's absorbed rather than sitting on the surface, there’s much less chance of it oxidising and causing any visible discolouration.
