It did prove to be a challenge to separate the lid and base. Strong fingers with a good hand span needed as nothing much to get a grip on. I followed the instructions and used wax to lubricate before I filled and put the feeder out and it certainly helped. The starlings took to it immediately!

A super little feeder which keeps the seeds dry and the squirrels off!

Pleased with my purchase, birds were wary of it for a few days but happy to feed from it now.

Great for feeding small birds . Had a lot of starlings in the garden but they are too big therefore giving the sparrow and others a chance . Also easy to clean .

Excellant small feeder for small birds, they soon adapted to it, even the chaffinch manages to feed from it. Just one action to open for filling and cleaning, well designed. Very pleased with the first one, have acquire a second one, disposed of my old feeders

The look of this feeder is appealing and I like that it holds a large amount of sunflower seeds that are protected from the elements, but.... Maybe my birds aren't as acrobatic as those mentioned in other reviews because the birds, even the little ones, can't seem to get a grip on the edge of the feeder in order to access the seeds! I've taken it down and re-hung the smaller clear feeder that the birds much prefer.
