Our Dried Mealworms are a great source of protein and have been a real hit since we first introduced them. Dried mealworms have a similar level of fat and protein as the live equivalent.
What birds enjoy eating Dried Mealworms?
Dried mealworms will be eaten by most soft bill species and in particular Robins, Starlings and Blackbirds. House Sparrows will also eat them.
How do I feed Dried Mealworms to birds?
Dried Mealworms can be fed on their own, in a mealworm feeder or can be added to seed mixes. It’s very important that Dried Mealworms are soaked in water prior to feeding in the breeding season, as it is also the moisture that the young nestlings require.
How should I store dried mealworms?
They should be stored in a dry cool place.

I’ve been soaking these in water before putting them out on the bird table and the birds seem to love them! They’re much easier for me to cope with than the live, wriggly ones.

The birds who visit our garden gobble up the dried mealworms as soon as they spot them. At this time of year, they feed them to their fledglings. We always soften the mealworms in warm water before putting them out, and this makes them more palatable for both adults and their youngsters.

As always the mealworms are spot on and loved by the birds, particularly the blackbirds and sparrows - and the magpies if they can get them!
