“I got this to provide a remote control for a Santa Fe Ultra 70 dehumidifer, which was located in a different room in the basement from where we wanted to monitor and control the humidity. (The dehumidifier output was ducted into the room where the Honeywell control is located.) It was very easy to hook up once the thermostat wire was run. This control only requires a 2-wire thermostat wire. It should work with most any brand of dehumidifier as long as the unit has a 24-volt low voltage connection and a DEHUM connection that will turn on both the fan and the compressor simultaneously when the 24-volt power is applied to it.
The markings on the dehumidistat seem to be well calibrated to the actual humidity, although I believe it is possible to adjust the calibration if necessary. The dehumidistat has hysteresis. to prevent short cycling, i.e., it won't turn on the dehumidifier until the humidity in the room reaches a few percent above the desired humidity. I believe it is set for about a 3% or 4 % swing in humidity from turn on to turn off.”
