Vulcan Prime 3 x 3 Flat Competition Bench The Vulcan Prime is a heavy-duty flat bench that can give you the support and comfort you need to hit your heaviest presses. 17" height from the floor allows good scapular retraction and lordotic curve of the lumbar regions to support heavy bench pressing. The thick and tactile vinyl pad ensures you have excellent contact with the weight bench surface to eliminate any power leaks or dangerous slips. The Prime 3 x 3 design allows firm foot plants on the floor without encumbrance from the bench feet to generate maximum power for supine or upright pressing movements. Wide laser cut steel footplate offers more stability and eliminates the flexion that rubber bench feet have under heavy loads. While not officially IPF-certified, its dimensions match competition specs: 17 height, 12 pad width, and full-length pad coverage. Its designed to meet or exceed the geometry used in sanctioned bench setups. How does the frame design affect leg drive and shoulder stability? The 3x3 11-gauge steel frame has an open front design that gives unrestricted foot placement for proper leg drive. Its low center of gravity prevents wobble during heavy bench press setups, maintaining consistent shoulder and hip alignment. Is there any benefit to the optional 14 wide pad for heavy benchers? It depends on build and technique. Most lifters prefer the 12 pad for scapular movement and shoulder safety. The 14 wide pad can help extremely broad or heavy lifters who need extra torso support but may restrict shoulder retraction for others. Does the grippy vinyl surface impact bar path or setup? The high-friction vinyl prevents upper-back slipping under maximal load, allowing lifters to maintain tightness and bar path consistency through leg drive without needing excessive chalk or tacky sprays. Is the bench suitable for rack use and spotter arms? Yes. The compact footprint fits standard 49-wide power racks, and the 17 height allows perfect bar clearance with most rack J-cups and spotter arms. The flat base design adds rack stability without interfering with spotter position. { "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "FAQPage", "mainEntity": [ { "@type": "Question", "name": "Is the Vulcan Prime Flat Bench approved for powerlifting federation standards?", "acceptedAnswer": { "@type": "Answer", "text": "While not officially IPF-certified, its dimensions match competition specs: 17\" height, 12\" pad width, and full-length pad coverage. I’d been shopping for a power bar and a flat bench for a few months. Compared quality, prices, and shipping cost between other brands like Fringe, Rep, Rogue, etc. Vulcan had their 3x3 prime bench on sale and a B-Side Absolute power bar in stock and I didn’t want to pass up the deal. Everything arrived well packaged 2 days after I placed my order (to eastern NC). The Absolute power bar had a couple extremely small blemishes on one collar, which is exceptional considering that this brand new bar was discounted $50 and still carries the same warranty. The quality is superb, finish is excellent, grip is exactly what I would want in a power bar. No rust or oxidation from storage or shipping. This bar also has the new logo (bird) end caps. The bench is solid, flat, and grippy. The base legs are narrow enough that they don’t obstruct my legs/foot position when doing bench press. Overall I am extremely pleased with the purchase from Vulcan. Great equipment, fair prices (very fair when discounted!), fast shipping. Vet owned is a plus in my book as well! I, personally, wouldn’t search elsewhere for gym equipment if Vulcan carried the type of product I needed. Thanks, Vulcan! P.S. Throw a sticker or two in with your gear so happy customers can slap them on a water bottle or gym wall.

First off, the packaging was destroyed. Bad enough where I took pictures because I thought I'd need to send it back. Big holes (18"+) in box and seat supports poking through. To my surprise, everything was in there and in good shape. The bench is near perfect for me - I like shorter benches. This is a TANK too - super heavy duty. The padding is some of the best I've used on any bench too. It's hard for a flat bench to look totally bad$$$, but this one does. Feels great benching. Best of all, the price is fantastic on sale. I'll be buying more from Vulcan.

This is an excellent bench. The frame is incredibly sturdy and solid, the pad is comfortable, and the vinyl doesn’t slip. The handle and wheels make it convenient and easy to move around. An excellent choice for anyone in the market for a new bench.

The tank of bench presses. I was overwhelmed with how heavy duty this bench is!!! This thing will last a life time and I don't think I've ever seen a bench this heavy in a gym facility! Very firm hard foam that will be great for benching and mult other things! Literally the best bench I've ever seen. Vulcan may have just won all my future orders based off the quality of this bench
