“Works exactly as expected. I bought it assuming I couldn't do chisels based on reviews here, but I figured it's worth it for my plane irons. However, it fits my Narex chisels fine, and is great with the irons. I recommend it.”

“Once you get a blade set up it works great, but it is a serious challenge to get the blades in position. I would say that the time fussing with it takes away any savings for it being affordable. The fact that squares up the blade is nice,”

“I bought this because I have trouble honing my 1/8 inch Narex chisel, and this guide said it would accommodate this narrow chisel. It does not hold the chisel in question. In fairness the chisel has a square edge rather than a bevel edge, and this seems to be the reason it will not clamp securely. I any event this honing guide does not fit my particular needs. I have returned it, and have ordered a admittedly more expensive honing guide from Richard Kell which I believe will better serve my needs.”

“Understand this is an inexpensive honing guide. Yes it has its drawbacks. It is not the easiest to set up. That said, I sharpened my chisels to the point I was able to shave the hair on my arms within minutes of opening the package. Paid 8.99 for it. I will gladly take a little time setting it up for the price, knowing it is a bargain.”

“As with anything requiring skill, this guide works great for plane blades if you take the time to master it. Or you can ditch the hand plane and just orbital sand your way to flat.”
