This is an old school woodworking tool that is the only way to do many things (widening dados elegantly, etc.) and is not for those who need lots of help getting a tool set up and knobs to make adjustments. That said, it is very basic to setup and use, compact enough for precision work in tight clearances, and very well made.

Pro's : Quality of materials and manufacture are excellent Cons: Cumbersome and finicky to adjust. The blades have to be set by hand, vs an adjusting knob, which is tricky because the blades are very small (it helps to use a very small flat head screw driver to move the blades). To adjust the blades, you have to loosen the locking screw, make the adjustment, re-tighten (don't move the blade!) try it, rinse an repeat. You cant simply reverse the direction of stroke without switching the guide to the other side and having the blades set the same (see above). Easy to cut your self on the blade that is on the grip side. Blades are hard to sharpen because they are so small and hard to hold. The head of the plane has a sharp corner that cuts a groove in the corner of the rabbit if the planer isn't set up are exactly. I am sure that if I used this plane all the time I would get used to it and good at it, but that's a lot of frustration when a standard rabbit plane with simp a guide over comes all of the above.
