“Purchased both the # 5 1/2 and # 6 WoodRiver hand planes. Viewed all Rob Cosman videos, and I complied with them. No plane comes from the factory "perfect", but if you purchase a WoodRiver and follow the suggestions in Rob's video, you will have fine planes that will last and give pleasure for generations. “To be honest I was a little disappointed when I received these and started using them. I went on to purchase a LN plane looking for something better. It wasn’t until I had the same results with my LN that I realized my disappointment was caused by me. It wasn’t until learning how to properly sharpen and tune these planes did I learn and appreciate just how well made and great they are. I suggest this exact package to anyone that is starting out with hand planes. To those that purchased this kit and you are disappointed I would suggest Rob Cosmins video 32 seconds to sharp and his new plane set up videos. All planes need tuned and sharpening is the most important skill you can learn to make any plane functional.”

“If youre lookin for pro-quality,..for a little less $$ upfront than ultra-quality,...these are the way to go I own planes of every known brand,.these are heirloom quality They require some tuning out of the box if you really expect pro results,...but you could equally take that No. 5 Woodriver Jackplane out of the box and use it straight away for roughing work out right away I have several Woodriver planes,..most arrived to me in working order,...only one of 6 planes required to have the sole flattened as you would for an antique Stanley Id have given these a 5-star rating,..however,..that'd have left no room for rating ultra-premium brands You wont be dissapointed I reach for my Woodriver No 3 and No 5 handplanes constantly,.over all the cool ones in my shop space”

“I ordered this package from Woodcraft. At the time of ordering there was no mention that they were out of stock of two of the planes. There followup is disgusting and not existent. The first time i knew that I was going to only get one plane out of three was days later when they shipped the item. Very Unhappy. For the cost of these planes I would expect the planes box would be much nicer, the box is flimsy and was squashed a little on delivery. The box should be much better if the consider this to be a heirloom product. I keep all my original packing from quality items I purchase. This box will not go the distance. The plane I received was of decent quality.”
