Should have gone to the local Woodcraft store but I ordered on line. When you pay good money for something you expect to get what you pay for. Unfortunately upon receiving the product there was an 18” long gouge down the length of the billet. Instead of turning a bat, I was going to turn some hollow forms and needed the full diameter of the billet. Luckily they had one at the store and the manager made it right. It was only 100 mile round trip.

I bought an ash and a maple billet. I have only turned the ash so far. I turned a "torpedo" bat. Can't use it for games any more, but can use it for fun and practice. 2.6" at its widest. 1.8" at its thinnest. 34" long. 36 oz weight. (i.e. -2 drop) Turned well. Easy turn, but make the skew extra sharp if you don't want to sand a long time. Sprayed the handle with rubber tool covering. (4 coats). Handles very well. nice "sweet spot"

My teenage son is on a high school baseball team in Middle Tennessee. He is currently learning how to turn as a hobby, and instinctively started turning bats. These billets are making a really decent bat, and he is selling them as faster than he can make them. They seem to withstand continuous cage use at this point, and the team is eager to get them out for their wood bat tournaments.
