“I have to give this a 5 because it is a Sjobergs bench, and the components made by Sjobergs are well made. The weight is great. However, beware a couple of things and don't let this dissuade you from buying one because they are worth the frustration in assembly. One, the instructions on assembly are very bad. As someone who worked for an auto manufacturer, I know technical writers can do a better job than this. My Golden Retriever could have prepared better instructions. No real written instructions at all. Two, leave the top rails off the bench and the bottom rails slightly loose until you get the cabinet in place. You will need to loosen the rails again and will use some very interesting language trying to get the rectangular cabinet into the small space between the rails (I know I did--I entertained the neighbors most of the evening) and will drop pounds sweating over it. Three, be very careful putting the drawers on the slides. The slides are not Mercedes quality slides and the space they fit into is tight. One slide came apart and spilled all its ball bearings into the cabinet. I had to take the whole slide out, disassemble and reassemble it. What a pain--cue more coarse language and weight loss. I finally got it assembled. Now today to lift the top, which is really heavy. Can't wait to use it. Quality is great on this bench if you are creative enough (and swear a lot) to work out the installation kinks and invent your own instructions. Sjobergs may want to hire someone to write installation instructions--that would reduce frustration a lot. However, despite this frustration, this one has to get 5 stars because of the quality wood construction. The vises are mammoth, and the top is extremely heavy and thick.”

“I got this bench for Christmas. Assembled it and when I flipped it over realized one of the boards on the top was separated and not flush at one end. I have emailed the company 3 times and have received no response. Other than the one flawed area the rest of the bench would be great.”
