Well designed. Fits in your hand with balance. Excellent steel. I bought about about 14 of these for gifts.

ORIGINALY I BOUGHT THE 3 UNFINISHED UNIT KITS AND DID THE HANDLES WITH WENGE, REALLY HARD WOOD , REALLY BEAUTIFUL GRAIN / I HAVE USED COPPER AND STAINLESS STEEL PINS, I PREFFER STAINLESS STEEL DUE TO THE CLEAR PIN / DARK WOOD EFFECT / REALLY EASY TO DO IF YOU HAVE THE PROPER TOOLS INCLUDING BAND SAW AND A NICE FIXED SANDER (4 X 36) / THE SANDER WILL TAKE THE PINS FLAT TO THE WOOD PERFECTLY / PERFECT FEELING BETWEEN THE WOOD AND THE PIN / THE BEST KNIVES I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE / WITH THE PEARING KNIVE YOU CAN SLICE MEAT LIKE MASHMELLOW / I ORDERED 2 ADDITIONAL PARING KNIVES AND PLAN TO ORDER 2 OF THE 3 UNITS KIT FOR MY GROWN UP KIDS FOR CHRISTMAS

Put together a number of Zhen knifes sold many and gave a few as gifts over the years. Made wife a set for Christmas years ago. I use brass pins and Bolivian Rosewood on most. These knives have very good steel and hold an edge. Every once in a while I'll touch them up on 1000 grit cbn wheel and a leather strop. they end up dangerously sharp. One of my favorites is the Santoku 9 5/16, wife uses her paring knife all the time. When they are on sale I purchase a few

I have been making scales for Zhen knives for sometime now (over 25) for ourselves and fir gifts for family and friends. I have purchased exotic woods for the scales and use my own brass and mosaic pins instead of supplied pins. just my preference. the knives stay incredibly sharp and I use a knife sharpening system to keep them that way. Nothing better to use than a sharp knife and the beauty of the Zhen knife is well appreciated.
