The instructions indicate using a 12.5mm drill bit for the threaded insert. The insert simply falls into the hole and the threads grab nothing. As for the rest of the kit... I've not finished it yet due to issues with the hole size and the insert.

The blade on this cutter seems to be fine, but like every other WoodRiver product, it suffers from cheap components to finish it off. The threads on the insert are complete trash, the threads on the cutter itself are equally trash. It's not that hard to cut threads, figure it out!

This is not a bad kit. The only thing that I am upset about if the screw part. Not sure of the metal but very weak. Broke 2 of them. Overall good kit though. Little on the expensive side though.

I bought a half dozen of these kits. The competitors kit, in my opinion, is much better and I give that one five stars. The drilling instructions on this kit are inaccurate. I did have epoxy on hand and I hope it’ll hold. The half inch hole is too large. The sale price is same as competitors sale price but at regular price, this kit is more and it makes no sense to me. The blade on this one is not as nice, the plastic washers make it look cheap, the part that the handle lines up with is not a circle. I guess I could probably come up with a few more complaints but I’ll stop at this.

It is heavy and sharp and will be as beautiful as your turning. Sadly, it seems to be die cast and the casting marks weren't ground out before it was chromed. The hole in the head allows it to be hung rather than thrown in the drawer, the allen head axle allows the blade to be removed for thorough cleaning (or pulling off the protective plastic), there is enough magnetism in the blade to attach the cutter to a magnetic knife rack. I never found the instructions, but the process seemed to be straight-forward. This might be the best kit out there, but it isn't good enough for me to quit looking.
