“This trimmer works great until you have to change out one of the bits. I have the 7 mm and the size 0. Whenever I took out the 7 mm bit and swapped it for the size 0, I had a hard time getting the 7 mm bit out, I didn't think anything of it so I went ahead and installed the size 0. I used it several times and then I went back to put the 7 mm bit back in, it literally was almost impossible to get the bit out. even with the set screw completely removed the bit was stuck in there so hard I had to use a hammer and a punch to remove it. I can't believe I wasted my money on this barrel trimmer and the two bits I bought to go with it. I could have saved all that money and just bought a cheap one off Amazon. Lesson learned.”

“First off, it stays sharper longer than the 4 blade cutter. The carbide chews through anything easily. Downsides: 1 - it likes to dig in, so if you're using a drill press or hand drill, you may end up destroying some blanks. Chucking it in the lathe and using the tailstock handwheel prevents this. 2 - the cutter teeth do not go all the way to the mandrel shaft. No issue with bigger sizes, but it won't fully trim the brass on a 7mm insert for a slimline-type pen.”

“Agree with everyone else here about 4 blades versus 2, but, if you take your time, it works fantastic. I have destroyed blanks being overly aggressive, or just plain not paying attention. One of the better quality products I have purchased for pen making.”

“This cutter-head works really well if you use a tool that allows you to provide slow and even pressure. Originally I used it in my hand drill as I did with the HSS version (which I also like) and I found it was really easy to be over-aggressive in wood, and in acrylic I was getting chipping on top of it. Now I trim my blanks on the lathe the same way I drill my holes. The slow advance of a lathe tailstock allows this to effortlessly make clean shaves as it trims flush, with no chipping and not accidentally shortening your tubes.”
