The mat is a good idea for glue ups. Recommend leaving the glue thick on the mat until it drys before cleaning off. If you wipe the wet glue up, it drys with a very thin skim of glue that is difficult to remove later.

Earlier reviews are correct about cleaning after glueing. Difficult to remove glue once dry. Works to have a damp cloth from that and use when still wet.

I've been using the large mat for several years. Agree that it's difficult to get thin smears of glue off, but I've also never had a problem with the residual staying on the mat between glue ups. I've never dented a surface because I had dried glue under it. It's much easier to roll out and and roll back up than to find catalog and magazine pages in the recycle bin and try laying then all out over the bench. It also stays in place as you are moving the clamps around preparing for your glue up. Also avoids the ink transfer of the pages contact your wet glue joint. One thing I've found that breaks up the dried glue is tightly bending the mat. Only down side is it's narrower and shorter than my bench so for large glue ups, I have to rummage in the recycle bin and tuck paper under the sides.
