Too bad there isn’t lower than 1 Star... Well now i know why i couldn’t find a picture of this kit anywhere. It looks terrible. The fit is also very bad. It’s such a big kit that once it’s all put together it feels like you’re trying to write with a baseball bat. Also the cap length is very small compared to the enormous body and it just looks bad. Tried both silver and gold and both were just plain ugly. That’s just the looks category, the pieces are all so poorly fit that i could slide them in with just my fingers. All of that led to a poor overall fit which made the marker dry out almost immediately. Lastly the cap seems like it’s missing a piece because the open end is just left raw with the tube exposed. They couldn’t spend another 5¢ to have a sleeve on that end? Too bad i buy in bulk, i have 8 more of these that they won’t take back because I’m past the return time, and i don’t think i can even give them away. Not worth it even at the sale price i got them for $5.00 each

I liked the look and the concept, but it DOES NOT WORK! Does not seal and the marker drys up within a day! Not worth the $$$

I had a customer request a marker armor and wanted it even with all of the 1-star reviews saying that the markers dry out too quickly. I made it and after a month of use the customer reports that it is a beloved piece of equipment and the marker that was placed in it is still going strong. I have now made a couple of these and this is what you need to do to make a successful Marker Armor. 1 - You need a large blank. I used two 3/4" blanks and wished I was using 7/8" or a full 1" but the 3/4" will work if you are very, very centered. 2 - The parts are too loose. When you go to assemble the kit, you can finger press the parts and pull them back out. I hate that! I have made many hundreds of pens and I prefer to not use glue to secure parts but in this case it is a must. I used thick CA and made sure it went around each part fully so as to keep air from getting in. 3 - The cap has a raw, exposed end that butts up to the center band. Your work needs to be nice and clean because the edge and brass tube will show when the cap is removed. You also need to make sure you have a very well trimmed end. It needs to be very flat so it sits perfectly against the center band when closed or air will get in. 4 - Make sure when you insert the white piece into the cap that it is screwed securely in place or you will not get a nice fit against the center band. Make any necessary adjustment so that you get a click when you close the pen. If the parts actually fit together like they should (not so loose) and if there was something that pressed into and covered the now raw edge of the cap I would give this a much higher review. My customer loves them and has asked for more. That earns it the stars that I gave it. I wish I could post pictures to show the ones that were made. Take your time and make sure to seal up each part to keep air from getting in and you may find this to be a nice gift. My customer ordered this plus a matching pen to give to a teacher. It was a neat set.
