I have used mine for many hours now. At first, the battery case would not close, which would cause the winking of the light some people have talked about. All I did was pull on the front lever so that it would latch when first working with it and it works perfectly now. Should you have to do that, no, but it just might be a quality control issue that they are getting ahold of. It was not hard at all to fix. With the case latching, the light will not wink on and off, plus you get much more illumination for obvious reasons. If your shop is poorly lit, this will help quite a bit, but I would invest in some Barrina lights for above your work for any kind of light like this. I was able to use in very dark conditions at first though (one light bulb to the side of me and Christmas lights around me!). By getting better lighting above I saw what this light could really do, no pun intended. Being able to move it around, you pretty much can then eliminate any shadows on your work with proper lighting above. To just use this light for "the" lighting source, you will have tremendous shadows with no way to get rid of them and that would be with any kind of light like this. It does have a sliding lens to focus light and then broaden it, which I use often. Easy on off switch. I really like the power cord option. Batteries just do not last that long. They are great in a pinch, but batteries are not for long term operation on anything. The magnet is pretty strong like they say. I also like being able to attach it to my work bench to have that extra light to take out the little shadows on my work pieces I am working on. I am 52 now and the eyes seem to need more light, which this does. Hope that helps clear somethings up.

I didn't see my first review so I am submitting this one. I bought two of these on sale in January 2024. I am surprised to see them still being sold. These are a very poor design. The battery case does not close when batteries are installed. The light works off and on sometimes and is not very bright...even plugged into 120v. I saw that AF from Cincinnati got help from customer service and a replacement that didn't work either. I didn't get help or replacements which according to AF have the same problems. Yes...I was disappointed and still disappointed to see them still stocked by Woodcraft.

I bought this light a few months ago. The concept was great, but the light lumens fell short. It needs a brighter bulb. I returned it without any issues.

I bought two of these from Woodcraft and have been very pleased with them. I use one on my drill press and one at my router table. Both have ample light to brighten the work area I need. I see some comments about not working with AAA batteries but I have never attempted to run them on batteries but use the AC transformer to power the lights. I was lucky enough to buy these when Woodcraft had them on sale and I will be watching for another sale to pick up a couple more for my miter saw and band saw.

First, I have to give a virtual 5 stars to Woodcraft customer service. They saw my first review of this product and took it upon themselves to send me a replacement. I couldn't be happier with customer service taking the initiative to fix the problem. I doubt you'll ever get that from the likes of Amazon. However, the replacement suffers the same issues as the first: the light simply does not work with batteries. It definitely seems to be a basic design flaw. The batteries don't seat well, and when you get them in, the cover won't close. And even when you force it all together, the light is extremely dim at best and won't light anything. Woodcraft really needs to just dump this product and get a better designed replacement. Don't keep selling junk.

wish I had read the reviews before buying, and didn't try battery power until it was too late. Woodcraft should be embarrassed for keeping this shoddy product on their shelves.

Mechanically, this light is fine. the magnet is strong enough, duration of use with batteries is enough; it has been knocked to the floor repeatedly and still functions. I'm just not that impressed with the amount of light produced
