I have a Razer that I have used for over 17 years. It has worked well. Depending on the wood I use, the pen does need to rest some to reheat, but that’s to be expected. The harder woods and oily woods tend to pull the heat. Softer woods burn quickly and smoothly. I love mine and have a side hustle making extra income with it. I’m reordering because I want to have one in two places. My old one works just fine, still. Why improve what isn’t broken?

I spoke with the manufacturer and let them know I wanted this for mainly signing my wood bowls. They were very nice and said this razertip would be plenty. It is not. It does not hold heat and to get a signature and details on the wood it's a constant, start, let heat up, start again and so on. I spoke with another very well known turner and tool maker about another matter and this came up. He was quick to inform me that he had the exact same problem. People will pay for good products and I think woodcraft is doing a disservice to it's turning community to sell a product just to sell a product. Not to happy about this one. will gather dust like other purchase missteps.
