Turning a handle for the peeler couldn't be easier. I cracked one side of the peeler (looks like plastic but the description says "ceramic") while trying to insert it into the handle. There are no directions that I could find to explain how to assemble w/o risking breaking the piece. Anyway, I took the ceramic peeler out, assembled the metal frame to the wooden handle and then CAREFULLY reassembled the cutter into the metal frame. That cutter is sharp! Anyway, the crack was minor enough that I could use the peeler. The wife and I both like it a lot. As noted, it is right handed by design. I plan to make 3 more for my kids for stocking stuffers.

I bought this because it's a side peeler and some people prefer this design and also woodcraft is the only place I found hat sells that design. Easy to make but don't care for the lack of threads on the insert. The plastic part holding the ceramic cutter looks like it won't hold over time but we'll see... So if the holder or blade brake the whole thing can be thrown away since the insert has to be glued or epoxied. Not good. The blade can't be reversed so the peeler can be used by a left-handed person; why is this so poorly designed ??? It wouldn't take much for the blade to be reversible, but some right-handed person that never uses a peeler decided that it would be one side fits all; oh well.... I won't by this peeler again.

This was a Christmas present for my wife and she absolutely loves it. It cuts well and is very sharp. ONE comment it really is only for a right handed person and she is left handed. The unit cuts well but is difficult to use for a left handed person.

The head snapped off the first one as I was inserting it into the handle, but maybe I put some lateral pressure on it, not sure. The second one definitely broke within a year with light use. The plastic piece that holds the ceramic cutter snapped.
