well i got the large kit on sale brought one black one silver , ok the only thing wrong is no matter how i tried to hook up the wire. it seems to be around a 1/4 inch or a half inch to short. other than that its a nice little kit. i will be making my own wire for the cutting part .

Easy to make but be aware that the instructions are inaccurate for the large board. They say to drill the hole 3 7/8" deep for the hardware. To do that, I broke out my brace and but to be able to get the last half inch only to discover the 2 7/8" listed for the small board would have been more than enough. Another tip, if you are going to round over the edges of your board with a router, do it BEFORE drilling the hole as the guide bearing will dip into the hole leaving an irregular edge. All in all, it is a good kit and easy to make. I made 9 as Christmas gifts for my family from walnut my late dad had in his collection

This was an awesome kit. It is really one of a kind. Make sure you have a very long drill bit and to measure it exactly 3 3/8" or the bar will be over or before the saw kerf. I wood burned an image onto the board to add characteristic and it made it so much better. I really am impressed. Great job Woodcraft.

Great project to build. I used a 12" long board that was 3/4" thick 5 3/4" wide. It turned out great. I wood burned a cheese vector on the board to add characteristic and then coated it with mineral oil (food safe). The hole where you put the hardware has to be exactly 3 7/8" deep, no more no less or the hardware will go in to deep. If you drill it to deep just get a dowel and cut it to the length you need it. This is a very good project. Just make sure you have a long drill bit for the hole.

I purchased 3 kits, 2 in chrome and 1 in black, all large size. All three had the same issue, the bends in the main hardware are not true 90 degree and the two ends don't end up parallel, which is critical to the design. I ended up putting them in the vice to bend them close enough so they would be functional. In the end it worked, so I was able to use them and make my last minute Christmas presents.
