I have a few of these. The handles are prone to snapping. The metal part is adequate after dressing the machine marks on the back bevel. I made my own handles, but shouldn't have to at this price point.

I decided to give the WoodRiver chisels a try, just to see if I noticed much difference. The tool is noticeably lighter than even a smaller Lie-Nielsen chisel. It arrived in rough-ground condition, so I had to spend time flattening the back and honing, but nothing crazy there. I'm not sure what steel they are using, but it feels rougher than what I'm used to. But okay, first impressions aside, in use, It felt okay, traveled into the wood well. I was prepared to actually like this chisel, until the handle completely snapped off. This is my first time using this chisel, keep in mind. Well, that sucks. But it's a socket chisel so at least I can think about making a replacement, except what was left of the handle was so firmly embedded in the socket I almost couldn't get it out at all. It didn't look epoxied in, it just looked like it had been machine pressed way too hard. That might have been why the handle failed, too, idk. Bottom line I'm expecting a full refund.

I bought a 1/4", 1/2", and this 3/4" chisel. The others were acceptable but this 3/4" was a total joke. The socket was completely off center and I can't believe someone actually looked at this before it left the factory. When I say off center, I mean the edge of the hole almost came out of one side of the socket leaving about 1/32" on one side and about 3/16" on the other. The good news is Woodcraft is changing it out without hesitation. Wish I could leave a picture here.

I had to wait about 2 months to receive this chisel, I was very disappointed to find that the blade had a sizable chip from the corner direct from the factory. I did not want to wait another 2 months for a replacement, so I wound up spending several hours by hand forming a new edge. After making a new edge and sharpening a secondary bevel, the chisel did perform quite well holding it's edge while I pared down some Osage orange wood. If it would have failed here I would have returned it for complete disappointment, but it did ok after losing hours of my life fixing factory slop. This is a mid priced chisel and in my estimation you kind of get what you pay for here. If you want a top end chisel flat and nice from the factory you should go elsewhere.
