I recently bought these birch 3/4" balls in order to use with my bowl carving. With wood, no one knows what you can come across while carving or just working with wood in general. In my case, I was carving out a wooden bowl with hand tools and came across a knot which bothered me quite a bit after my gouge put a nice crack while trying to make small shaves and small increments of careful cuts. Well, it just didn't work. So, I went to Woodcraft to look for options and there you go. I saw these balls being sold as a set for couple of dollars. I picked them up and went home to drill exactly a 3/4" hole in the bowl, I got rid of the knot and was replaced by this beautiful birch wooden ball that contoured the bowl shape and now it looks amazing. Thank you woodcraft for being there for us. NOTE: It's very devastating when you spend few hours carving by hand for my case shaping up and hollowing the bowl carefully and end up with a knot at the end of it which shrink and cracks and could compromise the integrity of the bowl. Thankfully woodcraft is there for the save.

It's round, it's hard, it's made of wood. But seriously, I bought this to make a longer handle for my bench vise, and it turned out great!
