I have been buying your knives for years and each blade has proven completely capable in comparison to the very expensive knives. My customers are amazed at the finished product and the quality of your blades. Thank you for your products. Bill Clements

I made a few of these for gifts and the overall knife when finished looked great. It also holds an edge nicely. After 6 months a person asked if I could repair the knife, she said she dropped it on a tiled kitchen floor and the blade broke off just above the wood handle. Anyhow I did make another for her and I managed to save the scales off the broken one. It may have been a defect in the one blade but i dont think it should have broke.

I purchased 4 of the following kits at the local Woodcraft store and a couple from mailorder. Fillet Knife for Hunting and Fishing - 12" - 440C SS - Unfinished Kit Item 161951 Model A04M The pins included in the kits should be about a 1/4 inch longer so they stick out an 1/8th or so from the outside of the scales. The ones included in the kits don't stick out at all when using scale material that is 3/8 thick, as suggested in the instructions. On the first one, I ended up having to make my own pins out of some round copper rod I had. Hope this helps you and perhaps someone else. John

I really like the design and shape of the knife. The sheath that comes with it is nice and the kit comes with everything you need except the scales and the epoxy. The directions are also helpful for weekend warriors. After buying the kit and the scales in total cost me $45. If I didn’t have a free shipping code it would of been $55. In my opinion, there is no money to be made if trying to make and resell. The quality of metal would make me feel guilty if I sold it for anything more than what I have into it. The blade showed up bent like other reviewers stated, but was able to bend it back. That right there tells me it needs to have a better temper and if you filleted one fish with it, I doubt it would go back to its normal shape. One side of The collar in between the blade and handle was separated so it looked like it was cracked. Overall, good practice and will make a good gift for Father’s Day.

I made three of these knives for my son and grandsons, they came out nice but when we took one out of the sheath it was bent, the steel is soft enough that I bent it back to almost straight. I think that they are not a very high quality hardened steel.
