“I purchased one at the Spokane Valley store. I started turning it at 1850 rpm taking very light passes. It soon became evident that the blank was not turning well as small craters appeared throughout the piece. I turned it down until I was approximately 1/16 of an inch from final diameter and sanded with 120 grit sandpaper to very close to finish product and then went to my regular sanding procedure; I.e. 180, 220, 320, 480, 600, 1500, 3000, 6000, 9000, and 12000. The final product in my opinion turned out very nice after I used a polishing compound. I would definitely do it again, but using the same procedure. Acrylics can be very temperamental and need special care and patience.”

“Blank #1 I was aggressive and it looked like it was snowing a fine powder until a dull tool caused a chip and the whole thing exploded. Blank #2 Separated between halves, stars on one side, stripes on the other. The white stripes separated from the red stripes and tested my new face shield. The star section held together fine. Blank #3 I used extremely light pressure and very sharp tools. It survived and looks amazing. Make sure you drill straight, or stay thick as the core is mostly white.”

“Be advised this is two different sections glued together. If you are not very careful in turning it will break in the center and end up as another ceiling ornament.”

“I bought 4 and they all shattered into a million pieces or melted. I've been turning pens for two years now, and I've never seen anything like this. It's a cool design, but unfortunately they don't turn well.”
