I tried this for the first time to same a pen I made from maple. It essentially ruined it because the color on the mesh rubbed off on the wood and was impossible to remove without over sanding it. I don't recommend this product.

Super convenient to have these little rolls for finishing stuff on the lathe, and the mesh means they don't get clogged like normal sandpaper. My metalworking wife even borrowed them to use on her metalworking lathe.

I bought this hearing good things about mesh but when I used it, it didn't sand well and would tear very easily.

I bought this on the advice of a Woodcraft employee and my own experience with Abranet. The biggest problem with this sanding mesh is the blue lettering printed on it comes off onto the wood when sanding. On light woods like maple, this basically ruins the surface and it must be sanded again using traditional paper. Also, the 180 grit seems much finer than 180 and doesn't cut well at all. But it doesn't clog like traditional paper, that's about the only positive. Next time I'll buy the Abranet.

Why does no one have common sense anymore? They put 5 different grits in one container and don't put the grits on them. Once you cut them how do you keep track of what grit is what? They write superfluous information like waterproof, and aluminum oxide, that could be on the box, you need that info once. you think someone producing sanding products would put the grit size from one end to the other so no matter what size you tear it you know what grit it is the next time you need that size. And while I'm on my soapbox did no one think to see where the feedback tab would be on people's phone? BTW it's in the middle of this text box, good job on both counts. No idea what word is under it.

Woodcraft replaced Abranet with this and really dropped the ball. This stuff is thick and not flexible. Using 600 grit on acrylic and it gouged the pen. Had to drop back to 400 and start again. Used the last bit of abranet I had to fix it.
