“I have completed a number of these kits and today ordered more.. My customers are very pleased with the quality of the plane. Kitchen utensils I turn all use an insert. Unfortunately the insert that comes with this plane can only be inserted using the plane to drive it in. I like asher slightly recess the inserts, so have had to procure inserts from another source which can be inserted using an Allen wrench. I also note that the bolt (dual threaded) that comes with the plane is not permanently fastened in the plane. It is important to permanently fasten this bolt either in the plane or in the insert. I fasten this bolt in the plane. As a vendor of a completed kit, I do not want a customer to unknowingly have the bolt shake lose of its threads in their dishwasher and destroy the machines' impeller. It is because of these aspects of the kit, I have ranked with 4 stars.”

“This is a nice heavy slicer that is quite sharp. Should last for many years of use. Because of the weight you'll want to opt for a heaver wood for the handle and keep it fairly thick so it's balanced. The matte (brushed) finish is very attractive. IMPORTANT NOTE: The instructions I printed off woodcraft.com specify a 25/64" Pen Makerâ€™s Bit. However, it looks like the manufacturer has changed the size of the insert and the specified bit is too large. Check the size printed on the packaging for the correct size.”

“I was so impressed with the look of this cheese plane. Big, beefy and impressive. I even bought a sweet piece of cocobolo to turn for the handle. I got it all finished, and went to test it on some delicious cheese. Straight up, garbage. On closer inspection, the opening for the cheese slice is completely misaligned from side to side. On one side the gap is 1 mm, the other side is 3mm. My cheese was just torn to shreds with this thing. Buyer beware, and Woodriver QA department, for shame!”
