This is a review for two of the same axes. The first was hung by what appears to be a gorilla. The wedge was crushed down inside the head by about 1.5 " I wish they allowed uploading of photos so you could see the careless craftsmanship. I received the replacement today. It is much better , but is still a very poor job. I received a hatchet and a felling axe that both had the heads hung perfectly. It's a shame there isn't a quality control department, these would never have left the factory. I gave 2 stars for the second axe. The first axe got 1/2 star.

Unfortunately, the area where the wood fits into the steel, it looks a little hacked up. The wood has chips in it and is splintered along the edge where the steel head meets the handle. The handle itself looks as if it’s been handled as there are dirty spots on it. Also, it’s definitely not oiled up and protected like it says it is. It’s a unique piece and I will say looks durable but I paid good money for it to be in top condition which it is definitely not. Probably won’t buy from here again based on this purchase.

the handle is hung about 1/4" short from the top of the eye... kind of unacceptable for a $90 hatchet/axe in my opinion. Other than that pretty great and unique axe.

solid pack axe. great size, not too big, not too small. I'm 5'8" and this is ideal for me. only knock I can give it is the heat treatment; it seems a little soft for my liking. I was hitting knots in some pine and it ended up getting a few dings in it. I used a puck to sharpen it up and put more of a convex edge on it and it seems to be holding up ok. I have a Fiskars x15, Council Tool Velvicut Boys Axe, I've used a Hultz Bruk Kisa; with a thicker handle, nice shape, and decent splitter the bison mountain hatchet is the first one I reach for.
