This spring I got tired of making Wuhan Flu furniture so I thought Id take a break and try this kit. I made alot of slingshots out of slippery elm branches when I was a kid so I was really looking forward to receiving this in the mail. I was sorely disappointed when I opened it up. Too small to be useful for anything. I agree with the review from LC this thing needs an upgrade. Anyway, its still setting on my workbench shelve. I got it out again to make a gift for Christmas and I just stuck it back away again. Thought Id write a review so others wont waste their cash on this one.

This was such an awesome kit. At first, I was hesitant to purchase because of the 2 and a half stars but I finally did. I do wish woodcraft would include knife pins but it wasn't too big of a deal to purchase some separate ones. I used Mahagony wood for the handle and it turned out great. I also used danish oil and wax to give it a shine. The thing works great, just make sure you get the fasteners on real tight (I used two on each side). Thanks so much for making this amazing kit woodcraft!

I made a few of these to sell at craft shows and people love them. The problem with this product is the instructions are incredibly lacking. First, no where does it tell you what size pin stock to use. I ended up using 1/4â€

So I bought a few of these to sell at craft shows, just to change up some of the products that we have. The actual end product is cool, it is definitely a small slingshot. The big issue with these is that the instructions are absolutely terrible/nonexistent. First, off the instructions say nothing about what size pin stock you need for the handle. Luckily I had some 1/4" pins leftover from some knives that I made and I bored the holes out and used those. Secondly, the fact that you have to go back to the online listing to find the instructions is ridiculous. The kit should come with printed instructions. Lastly, the online instructions are lacking. They are unclear and not helpful at all. Luckily it's not that difficult of a build, so I put it together fairly easy. Either way, they should definitely do some redesign on the instructions of this thing. Again it's a cool product and will be unique on my tables, but a little thought could have been put into the instructions.

Bought this for my son for xmas so we could build it together. It took a bit more work than we expected and in the end, not a great slingshot. Pros: Solid metal frame, durable Cons: 1. I suppose it's a fairly simple project, but some build notes would be helpful. What adhesives to use, how to assemble the band, where to get the pin, what metals are recommended, etc. Again, not a big deal as we can figure it out on our own, but a little documentation with hints would be appreciated. 2. No pins. Why not? It would be cheap to include 3. The holes are not exactly round or at 1/4" (yes, that's the size of the pin hole). You will probably have to drill the metal out. The second receptacle for the pin has gaps on top and bottom, which means your bit will catch more than the hole. Clamp your frame hard. 4. My frame was not flat. You'll need to do some metal sanding. We got the gap close enough for epoxy, but it took a bit of sanding time. 5. Most quality slingshots these days use flat rubber bands, not tubing. Easier to manage and more efficient. This slingshot comes with tubing. 6. Ok, those were minor annoyances. I could live with all of the above with a little grousing. The real problem is that this is not a great design. The space between the two posts (where you shoot your projectile through) is about 38MM. It's funny that they recommend that you shoot ping pong balls (for safety reasons). Guess what size ping pong balls are? 40MM. I suppose you can find some old non-regulation 30MM size balls, but you would still have problems clearing the hole consistently. And as such, if you choose to shoot pellets or other smaller shots, bear in mind that it will be difficult for a youth to shoot straight as the margin for error is very small on this slingshot. To the point of being unsafe. With some practice you can reduce the frequency of hits to the posts or your hand, but it won't be enough, and you'll toss this slingshot before then. It's too bad, I really love Woodcraft and their products and I wanted to love this. Maybe we can get a redesign for next year. Larger overall, posts that can accomodate both flat bands and tubes, better tolerances and quality control.
