“This knife feels great for carving larger pieces of hardwood. It arrived with a great edge and required only stropping for quite some time. If I had a complaint it would be that carbon steel blades ground to such a thin point are bound to break off at the tip, requiring the user to grind out a new tip. This is not a mistake that Flexcut made, though; I think it’s a minor flaw in the sloyd knife design. Nevertheless, I use this knife regularly, particularly when roughing out and shaping hardwoods like mahogany and padouk.”

“When I received the knife I was quite impressed until I put it into the leather sheath. When I pulled the knife out the ferrule stayed in the sheath. Not sure if that is supposed to happen or not. Maybe someone could let me know if this is a standard thing with a carving knife as I am a beginner. Thanks”

Andy, Thank you for your feedback regarding the knife and sheath. Sometimes ferrule can become loose due to changes in relative humidity. Thank you for your review. “Just got mine not from woodcraft so no hit to them. I put the knife in the sheath and immediately it started changing colors on the handle. Little dissatisfied.”

“Nice knife . Not the sheath you will receive. The one in the picture has a chip to attach to your belt and appears to be amber dexterous , l happen to be left handed. The one you will receive is a cheap right handed only one that you have to weave through your belt. Much easier (not) . Change the photo, don’t deceive.”
