“In all fairness to the product, I think your supplier or vendor created a problem by putting a different answer than what is pictured on the website, because this is actually a really great idea for a product. On the website there is a thread insert with intermittent threads that would allow for better cutting into wood received a different style insert with one continuous thread that is problematic for hardwoods unless you have some kind of threading tap large enough to put threads into your blank that are slightly larger than half inch. While on the Leigh that I used a check on the tail stock to drill a half inch hole as the directions recommended into my blank. I ended up enlarging the hole to 9/16 with a different Forstner bit. I was then able to install the threaded insert with epoxy. That technical issue aside, which is the reason I gave it three instead of four stars, it’s a fun little project that leaves you with a very useful tool that can be completed in under an hour if you’re an organized Woodturner. So if you’re looking for a fun and useful gift for the upcoming holidays, this would be a great option for someone who uses carving tools or chisels.
