I have been grabbing the small 3/8 stock whenever I see it on sale. Everything I've received has been flat and true enough for my needs. I am able to thickness plane these and wind up with roughly 1/4" finished stock. The size limits me to small boxes or accent trim pieces which is just fine with me. I'm normally working in cherry and maple but like the darker morado as it contrasts well with the lighter woods. I'm laying out a vertical storage box for my paring chisels and just did some test finishing. I'm seeing really nice results sanding to 220 and finishing with teak oil. The raw stock has variability in color from dark brown to reddish brown, but once planed down and sanded becomes more uniform. The teak oil elevates the grain beautifully and results in silky smooth matte finish.

I gave it 5 stars because the grain and color were quite consistent: all straight grain, nothing wild or funky. I appreciate details, so here they go (without any exaggerations, I hope). Over the 12 pieces that I bought, the width is nearly consistently 3", the length is 13-7/8" give or take a smidgen, the thickness is 3/8". The edges need a light planning or jointing. The surface is not rough but coarse sanded. The ends are waxed. The humidity content ranged between 8% - 10%. About 5 pcs. were flat, the rest had a mild cup or twist, nothing unreasonable. There is always risk in buying wood sight unseen, but I am on the whole very pleased with this purchase. In fact, I ordered another 12 pieces, hoping for the best.

Ordered 10 pcs. Wasn't expecting rough sawn lumber. By the time I plane them down I will be lucky to get 1/4 in thick. 5 of the 10 pcs had 1/4" to 5/16" bow from one end to the other. Anybody know how to flatten these things? The other 5 pcs were flat. The dimensions were 3/8" x 2-3/4" x 15 3/16". I originally gave it one star but added one star for the length being longer than stated. This is the third time I have received warped boards from Woodcraft, last 2 times it was 3/4 in bloodwood warped and bowed so bad it was unusable. Woodcraft did refund my money on the bloodwood. I think I will not buy any wood online from woodcraft anymore since their quality control is not what I would expect from them. I would recommend if you are buying lumber buy at the store and not online if you want nice pcs that are straight and flat.

I bought three of these Morado boards to make a small music box. They were on sale for $3.99 each. I used Linseed oil to finish the box. Turned out nice.

I had no intention of purchasing Morado. Went into find olive wood (they didn't have any... maybe because I bought the last piece a week earlier). At the checkout stand they had a stack of small sized dimensional Morado cuttings at a great price. I couldn't resist. Brought it home and turned a piece into a knife handle. Very nice wood, deep rich colors. I liked it so much I am making another to match, and to give to my son. Woodcraft is one of my favorite places on earth.

Great buy at this sale price. Bought some for knife scales and they came out beautiful. Will definitely need planing or sanding before using as both surfaces are "washboard " like. Harder than oak so be prepared.
