Did a countertop and love the outcome, but there are pluses and minuses Pluses - Durable - Easy to repair Negatives - smells while curing - very slow process coat/wait overnight/scuff/recoat three to four coats - darkens finish Would I use it again? That depends on the use. My countertop was already damaged when the soap dispenser leaked and trapped soap under it for four months (vacation cabin). The good news is that I’m able to repair it easily. I used original and topped with three to four coats of satin. I would not choose satin again for a large project like this only because repairs are harder to blend and you have to put another top sealer coat to blend. In hindsight I’d prefer this medium sheen and then. Maybe a Scoth polishing pad to produce the satin finish. That would allow me to buff out scratches whereas the true “Satin” Waterlox is harder to do that with. Instructions can be confusing, but don’t be intimidated. Base sealer with Original and top coat with EITHER Original (vertical can) or the Satin (round can) but always apply the Original as a base coat to seal the wood.

I've used WaterLox for well over 30 years. You must follow the directions and prep your wood and test before jumping in. A real issue with how it will dry is humidity. If you don't have a climate controlled shop where you can control the humidity, then you might not get the results you want. It provides a beautiful finish and a tough finish. I used it on a oak swing that sat out in the weather for 25 years and never rotted out. Great stuff!
