I really like this thing! This is a true dust extraction; not a shop vac! When using it with Festool Sanders I have ceased to have any issues with airborne dust in my wood shop. My wife wasn't too happy about the cost of the unit until I walked into the house with zero dust on my clothes after sanding for over two hours. I also purchased the Bluetooth transmitter for the hose and it works flawlessly when I need controllable suction using just the hose such as cleaning up around my CNC. It was super easy to connect to the 48. The unit is reasonably quiet considering some of the other units that I have utilized. Besides the capacity of the 48 I also purchased it to utilize in conjunction with my Festool sheet rock sander although I have not had the opportunity to utilize it with the sheet rock sander just yet. Hoping to try that function in a few weeks as we work through our home remodel. I have found that the Festool products are expensive; however, rarely have I found a higher quality product when used for what they are designed. They are worth the money just to know that I am reducing my intake of fine wood dust!

I bought this dust extractor, along with a festool palm sander. I have never had a better sanding experience. Even at 60 grit, I don’t get any swirl marks, and there is less dust on the surface than after I wipe things down with a chamois after my previous palm sander. I hate that this stuff costs so much, but it just works! One of my favorite perks is that there is an outlet built into the dust extractor, and when I switch on my sander, the dust extractor automatically turns on. Same with switching off the sander, or any of my other festool tools. Is it weird to get excited for a vacuum? Does that mean I’m old now?
