I have not yet started the project, but wanted to mirror the observations of another reviewer that you cannot use the templates and follow the instructions at the same time, as the plans and templates come printed on both sides of one very large folded paper (like an old style fold out map). If you cut out the templates you lose the instructions and vice versa. It is not easy to copy either, because you have to keep shimmying the very large (and not page aligned) instructions along a small copier, and end up with about 20 overlapping pieces of paper that you have to tape together like a puzzle (or go to a professional copier and pay as much as or more than the original plans to get another set that you can use). I tried the copy method and it is just too hard to piece together without losing words here and there so am not sure whether I want to order another set of plans or try other copy options. I hope to get this figured out, make the rocking horse, and come back with a 5 star review!

I have not started this project yet but have reviewed the plans and have found the following that I would have liked to be different. The plans are one one sheet front and back. This forces one to make a copy if you want to make templates or to cut patterns to glue to the wood. Once you cut the patterns out you lose the instructions. The plans are printed in blue ink instead of black. This means that you will have to copy in color as most photo copiers will not copy blue well. Color copies will be more expensive than the plan cost. As for the build it looks to be fairly easy build with good instructions. Looking forward to starting pony.

If you want to make more than one project, make templates for each part. I would suggest that you purchase 1/4" or 3/8" thick HDPE Sheets from US Plastics to make the templates. This will give the router bearings a good surface when shaping and will hold up much better than plywood. It also allows the double sided tape to come of without ruining the template surface. Make sure you read the instructions carefully because the legs are extremely difficult to taper after they are cut to shape.

Made two for gifts, am working on third. This is an heirloom quality build, and brings smiles all around. Easy to follow plans , but do copy and glue to thin board for permanent patterns.
