I had purchased another brand of sharpening jig elsewhere and the jig bases were terrible. I replaced one of them with the Oneway base and it is a tremendous improvement. Yes it did take me 5 minutes to move the handle to the other hole but what’s 5 minutes compared to years of perfect performance. I’ve had this for about 6 months now and I am still as happy as I was one day one. It is time for me to buy a second one to complete my set. Don’t be afraid of swapping the handle for use as a right hand base. It takes just a few minutes and is easy to do.

Just as the other authors descriptions, I experienced difficulty sliding the platform onto both bases as one base has the tension handle near the "front" and will work with the wolvering base unit. The other base has the handle in the back and the platform slide is not long enough to be tightened/loosened. There were no directions in setting up a Right and Left base so that the tension handle is near the front of both wheels and can accomodate both the platform and longer arm. This is really a design error and poor communication on the part of Wolverine. I basically have 2 "rights" or 2 "lefts" and am only able to use the smaller platform slide with on base. I read the article about taking the base apart and changing the handle placement, but it is a very daunting task and could result in a malfunctioning adjustable platform. If the person who discovered this flaw and a "fix" could reply to this email with detailed directions on how to perform this procedure it would be greatly appreciated. You can email me at: bobb@cableone.net Thanks so much for your information and assistance. Bob Prescott Arizona

After fiddling around with the base, I found that there was a way to take it apart and put it back together for the right side wheel. There's a 1/8" hex screw holding the handle to a oblong cam wheel that fits in the tube. When you take the screw out, the handle comes out, the wheel comes out, and there's a third piece that's in a recess inside the tube. Take that piece out, put it in the hole inside the tube at the other end, put the cam wheel back in, insert the handle and put the hex screw back in. It's a little fiddly, but not a big deal.

Take care ordering this item. It fits ONLY on the left wheel of a grinder. You can't flip it around to use it on the other side. It's not symmetrical - maybe that's why the company is called "oneway?" (just kidding.) The instructions say "the front of the base should be flush to the front of the grinding wheel." The only way to make that happen is to have the red locking handle on the base towards the front of the grinder. If you have it the other way around, it won't line up with the wheel. When ordering, there doesn't seem to be a way to indicate left/right side, nor is there another individual item for the right side base - that I can find anyway.
