During recent trip to a Woodcraft store I remembered I needed super glue accelerator. I have used the Satellite City brand of cyanoacrylate adhesives and related products for more than 30 years. I asked for that brand of accelerator, but it was out of stock. The knowledgeable sales person suggested I try Woodcraft's house brand, the Stick Fast Aerosol Activator. OK, an easy purchase and likely a good substitute. In my vintage musical instrument restoration shop, we use super glues for some repairs and also for finish touchups. Disappointingly this produce softens lacquer and french polish finishes to the point they are sticky. Do not use this Stickfast activator on or near instruments or things with a finish. A unexpected result may be waiting for you. That said, I have not tried it on every finish type. I still need to test catalyzed finishes, waterborne, and polyurethane overcoats. And Stickfast aerosol activator does accelerate the curing of cyanoacrylate. Using it with unfinished wood may give you acceptable results

I've been using Stickfast aerosol activator for years and it works great. A quick spritz does the job and over-spray is not a problem.
