After reviewing this product and other bandsaws like it, I knew this was the right choice. I placed the order online versus utilizing the in store option since shipping was free. DISCLAIMER: This was my first order I've placed online. I ordered the product late July, received ship details late August, received mid Sept, waited three weeks to assemble it, and from there the ball has unraveled. The packaging showed no signs of damage with the exception of what appeared to be a pen sized hole. Upon opening the box for quick inspection, the unit seemed in good shape. On the weekend of assembly, or Oct 17th, arriving at the step to install the upper arm assembly knob, I was unable to sleeve the knob as the knob arm was bent. After investigating, the pen sized hole turned out to be an apparent impact of sorts during shipping or packaging. It seems the upper arm assembly knob area was hit which caused the bend to the knob arm and the puncture to the box was from that same knob arm. I was unable to contact Woodcraft as customer service was M-F and it was Saturday. On Wednesday, Oct 21st, I made contact with customer support whom pointed me to Jet for reconciliation. I then spoke with Jet whom turned me back around to Woodcraft. Woodcraft reluctantly accepted and started a work order; told me to wait 24-48 hours. 5 business days later, I called and asked if there was an update. The associate replied with "Why yes" and began to tell me they wondered why I took so long to put it together. My reply was simple; "too long?" She said she would send them pictures and attempt to get me a replacement. I hung up, called Jet, and spoke to a random associate. Their response was, "there was no real time limit for assembly; that I am the customer and assembly was of no concern to them. If it was damaged, all woodcraft had to do was authroize replacement and the money could be exchanged." The fun continued and now two weeks later I have been told to wait a little longer as they are working it with the Jet rep. Thus far this is a rodeo and all we are talking about is a simple yes or no to fix the issue. A simple, Yes or No for replacement and how. First time ordering from Woodcraft online and I simply will not be looking to do this ever again and I hope anyone reading this does the same. It is not worth the headache. I would recommend you head to the store and purchase in store as I had to find out the hard way items you order online can not be returned to a Woodcraft store. Personally, I am unsatisfied with their customer service and frankly feel customers are not their priority. I will no longer use Woodcraft for any items at all. ACME Tools or Rockler are more professional and responsive. I will continue to find other avenues to warn others of what the customer service for Woodcraft is about.

The saw gets five stars, but I do have some nits. Most importantly, it does not have a magnetic switch. If the power goes off while the saw is running, and then comes back on hours later, the saw starts up again. That's bad. Also, the doors that cover the wheels are flimsy/floppy and do not lock firmly. Thus, sawdust escapes from around the lower door even when a vacuum is applied. Finally, as many have pointed out, you have to buy a fence separately. At this price, these flaws should not be present. Overall, however, this is a fine, sturdy and precise saw. I'm looking forward to many years of productive use.
