“People rave about SawStop. I can't say it's any better or worse than the other big names since I haven't tried them, but I can say it's an insanely good upgrade from a Rockler ShopSeries saw with 12" rip space. Assembly is a major pain. If you're one of the few people who doesn't have a ground-floor shop (i.e. shed, garage, etc) and you have to haul it up/down stairs, get help. The main saw body with nothing attached is ~260 pounds. Assembly is no joke either. Trying to suspend 40 lb cast iron wings while simultaneously bolting them in is a feat. Get a high lift jack or a helper. Personally, my rip fence gauge is far from perfect; there seems to be a bow in it and it becomes less accurate the further the fence is from the blade. I'm compensating by measuring everything as I've done before. Should I expect more after spending $4,000? I dunno, but it's no slouch.”
