I've been using the sander for a couple of months now - it doesn't seem reasonable to write a review immediately after receiving a tool. There isn't anything particulary good or particularly bad to say about it. Assembling the stand was a bit challenging, but that was mostly because instructions weren't clear to me. I haven't experienced the tracking problem that other folks have mentioned. Replacing either the belt or the disc is a little more of a PITA than some other sanders I've owned - both require removal of some components, but nothing terrible. The machine a has a port to connect a 2¼" vacuum hose, and it REALLY works to reduce airborne dust. I'm not sure how much I say - it's a sander and it sands satisfactorily.

Box was smashed. Taped together with woodcraft tape. Which means woodcraft sent out a known bad product. The disc was bent from shipping. Called rikon and they sent out a replacement. Woodcraft should have returned the shipping damaged sander. Instead, they sent it out to a customer. I will not order any more large tools from woodcraft. Is rockler better? I guess I’m going to find out.

Upon setting up and adjusting this sander, I found the belt tracking would not stabilize. Despite repeated fine adjustments with the adjustment knob, the belt would track off the end of the drum within 20 seconds of a re-adjustment. I called Rikon tech support who advised they have had tracking problems caused by insufficient tension on the drum bracket. They advised me do take this apart and try putting successive washers on the tensioner rod to try to increase the tension on the drum and then re-assemble, try the tracking, disassemble, add another washer, etc. This was not an easy task and I found that there was only space for a single washer and that didn't fix it. In the process, I found that the drum housing was rather thin gauge steel and I could flex the housing with my hands. Clearly, this flexing of the housing was part of the problem with the drum deflecting. I decided it wasn't my job to try to go through all this to try to compensate for a defective Rikon design and cheap material issue and I returned the sander. I then bought a Wen sander which in contrast uses much heavier gauge steel and a better tensioner design and find it tracks perfectly even under repeated loads.
