“This is a heavy machine. It takes 2 people to lift the head over the post. Hefty 3/4 hp motor. Plenty of travel in the quill. And most of all, a big thin table that is clampable in many ways. I assembled it, drilled a hole and tried all of the lights and everyting worked. The next day the motor ran but no surface light, laseer light or indicator light. I checked on Google and found a long thread going back to 2019 about the JDP-17 having a bad circuit board. So I called Jet and they agreed to send me a new circuit board. It came within a week along along with a new controller too. Hooked it all up per instructions and lights wouldn't work unless the motor was running. Another week of exchanging emails and finally a phone call telling me I had a brown wire connected to the wrong black wire. I made the change and everything works. The instructions sent with the replacement parts have pictures but not a clear picture of how that entire wire mess should be connected. Just instruction to reconnecrt wires in the reverse method that they were disconnected and that white wires sould all be connected together and the brown wire to the black wire. Note: The brown wire goes to the black wire that is hot. I was surprised they were sending out machines in 2024 with bad circuit boards they knew about in 2019. Then I saw on the shipping box that it was mailed to my local Woodcraft store in 5-2022. I like the machine and the assistance given by Jet to attempt to fix it.”

“Before you buy this, line up some help to move and assemble. You won't regret this purchase. The light & laser are a nice touch, but you're buying a GOOD, BASIC drill press. After buying a "fancy/auto-transmission" drill press that only lasted a few years before failing, I happy to have a basic unit with an ample motor.”

“I will never order anything further from this company again, the drill is in route and I was given a tracking number, the representative advises the company delivering from the manufacturer is Central Freight. I ask do you have a number and was told we dont have one but not to worry the shipper will call day before. I stated when that DOESN'T happen what number do I call? She actually told me no one has the number, I can not make this up. This is my first order and all other orders will go back to Rockler, Infinity, Lee Valley etc. and many more and all other companies. I gave you a fair chance and wanted to spread the sales a bit so to say. There are way to many other companies out there. NO BUENO, Enjoy the last order, and by the way, I am setting up a 40 by 40 workshop and this was first piece of 12. Dont bother to attempt to make it right, the best loss is the loss you never see, your bank account when you dont even know the money is gone due to poor answers in customer service because you lost sales! Sad but true, Merry Xmas.”
