“It is best to think of this as the floor standing version of the JDP-15B bench drill press. The JDP-17 is available for those needing a bigger machine. The product description is incorrect and the table will tilt +/- 90 degrees right and left. Not 45 as stated. So you can drill into the end of a board, which is its main advantage over the bench model. The usual wisdom is that a top heavy drill press should not be put on a mobile base, which the manual also states. I bolted mine to a double thickness of 2' x 2' plywood that fits snug in the Bora Super-Duty Mobile Base and the unit is very stable and vibration free. A nickel coin placed on its side at the center of the table will not move when the drill is started, running , or stopped. There is some movement at the edge. This is a basic but very sturdy and quiet machine and I think it looks great in a small workshop. Having seen the floor models for Jet equipment, as was expecting some minor paint imperfections on the edges and this was indeed the case. I ordered some touchup paint from Jet, which arrived quickly. If I'd waited a few weeks I probably wouldn't have noticed any longer and not bothered with the paint. But have to take off a star for that. Overall, very satisfied with its functionality in my workshop.”
