Tracking has been an issue from day one. I spent over 10 hours getting Laguna to send me another conveyor belt. Still has issues unless you loosen one side completely and tighten the other completely. Now at under 40 hours of use the sanding drum jumps up and down violently. I have a Preformax 16-32 which I have used for over a decade. I know how to wrap and tighten the sand paper. That's not the problem. Upon further inspection I found that the rubber bushings on the drive coupler are beat to shreds. The set screws are still tight, so that's not the problem. There is apparently an alignment problem. At this point I am attempting to contact Laguna tech help, again. Wish me luck.

Machine works fairly well...for about 6 months. So far, after about a year and a half, I’m on my third catastrophic failure, leaving my production shop without a drum sander for at least a week. The control unit failed after about 8 months, the conveyor fell apart a month after that and now the DC motor driving the conveyor has failed. Done - I’ll be repairing this machine for the last time, selling it for whatever I can get and buying the Jet or Grizzly like I should have done in the first place. To add insult to injury, while Laguna/Supermax was at least willing to send me a replacement motor after I explained my shop was in the middle of a large order that couldn’t proceed without the sander, they dropped the ball, leaving the order to sit for three days before shipping it. If you can’t rely on the machine, you should at least be able to rely on the company to make it right.

Easy to assemble, well built. I have to issues, and they maybe just with my tool. Setting parallax between drum and feed table is not easy if you have eyesight issues. Second the feed belt tracking will not adjust. It always runs to the motor side no matter how it is adjusted.

Out of the box I found problems which were unexpected. As I assembled the base I found parts missing (carriage bolts and washers). Beginning to assemble the base I found that holes line up poorly requiring significant adjustments. As yet I have not been able to line up the stretchers reinforcing the legs. Having looked at the larger sander (19-38) I expected similar materials and "quality" in the various elements. Not the case. The housing for the sander roll is plastic. At this point I'd say the Chinese have done it again--lowered price and quality.
